APA 7th Edition

This guide contains citation support materials for the 7th Edition of the American Psychological Association Style Manual. This is the new edition of the APA Manual released in October 2019 (APA 7th edition).  

Tip of the Day

Personal Communication a.k.a an interview.

APA's guidance on personal communication:

 https://apastyle.apa.org/learn/faqs/cite-interview.

It is also in section 8.9 of the APA 7th Edition manual.

You approach the in-text citation of an interview *generally* the same way any you approach any other in-text citation.

What is the same:  Whenever you use or refer to someone else's idea (even with an interview), you should cite it.

What is different: The big differences are: a) the format of the in-text citation for personal communications (see below), and b) personal communications are not included in the reference list.
