What if Othello had realize Iago was terrible? What if King Lear was in outer space? What if Juliette just waited five more minutes? Where are the "lost scenes" to "As You Like It?"

To celebrate Shakespeare's Birthday, let's rewrite some of the Bard's best work with some small differences in key actions, characters, location, time period, point of view, etc. Use your imagination, but keep it connected to the original source in some way...this is fanfiction, after all!

Contest Details

Rules

  • Must be All-Ages friendly (G-PG rating)
  • Less than 2000 words
  • Only works connected to a Shakespeare play will be considered
  • All submitted work must be written by the author

Prizes
1st Prize: $100
2nd Prize: $50
3rd Prize: A collection of Shakespeare's
Sonnets

Submission Information:
Email your submission to ShakespeareDay@usca.edu as a PDF attachment.
In the body of the email, please include:

  • The title,
  • Author's name
  • A brief explanation of which play and/or character(s) inspired your story.

Submission are due on THE IDES OF MARCH (March 15, 2023)

Entrants will receive notification through email by April 7th.
