Information Literacy has been a focal point at UofSC Aiken for the last several years.
We define information literacy as: "The process of attaining the skills, knowledge, and dispositions that enable one to locate, evaluate, use and communicate information effectively for the purposes of solving a problem, making a decision, or generating new knowledge."
In support of these efforts, we've built a robust library instruction program that teaches over 200 classes and workshops each academic year. Instruction sessions are tailored to courses and assignments, so students who attend multiple instruction sessions during their time at UofSC Aiken learn something new each time. Our hope is that we see every student at least two to three times by the time they complete their first two years.
Information literacy skills are vital not only for academic success, but for success beyond the classroom. We encourage faculty to schedule library instruction for their classes, especially if the coursework involves any type of research assignment.
We can deliver library instruction either in person or online, and our librarians will be happy to work with you to determine the best delivery method (if online: synchronous, asynchronous, or a hybrid) for you and your students. Click here for an overview of resources, services, and tools available to support online, flipped, or hybrid courses.

There are several ways for you and your students to get research help, either online, over the phone, or in-person.
