If you cannot log in to library resources always try clearing your cookies and cache first. If that doesn't work then try a different web browser.

UofSC Aiken Login Problems
Issues logging in via UofSC Aiken credentials:

  • After three failed login attempts on any account that uses your UofSC Aiken credentials, your account is locked temporarily for 5 minutes.
  • OpenAthens, Office 365, and UofSC Aiken computers all the same login.
  • When you reset your password, be sure to change it on all your devices (smartphones, iPads, laptops, etc) and apps (e-mail, wireless, etc). If the devices or services keep trying the old password, your account will become locked.
  • You may reset your password online at http://reset.usca.edu/ or through your email browser.  This video shows how to reset your password if you are still able to access your university email through your personal computer.  https://youtu.be/ttvhoTiuVhg
  • If your UofSC Aiken account is still locking up, contact the UofSC Aiken Help Desk at 803-641-3391, help@usca.edu.
  • NOTE If your password has not been changed in the past 6 months then you will need to change the password even if you are still able to access your email.  

Other Common Problems

  • Only current UofSC Aiken students and employees can use OpenAthens for UofSC Aiken.
  • OpenAthens utilizes cookies.  Please set your browser to accept cookies from:
    • usca.edu
    • openathens.org
  • Redirect request problems: OpenAthens connects to sites that UofSC Aiken has designated and configured. If OpenAthens is not configured to handle authentication to a site you will see the message “We cannot redirect your request”.  You can try accessing the site via the library Databases page, linking to the site without OpenAthens or report the error to the Collections Coordinator Natalia Bowdoin or Systems Librarian Robert Amerson.
