COMM 320--Research Methods, Chen: Search the Catalog

Using the Library Catalog

The Library's catalog has the capacity to search across all library collections, including articles in databases.  The ability to search across all the Library's resources is convenient, but it also generally produces more results than is manageable.  I include this very brief overview in case your topic doesn't appear in either of the other databases covered in this course guide.

Some things to keep in mind when searching the catalog.  In the Advanced Search window, across the top, you'll see three options for searching:

  • The Gregg-Graniteville Library: Limited to print books and ebooks available in USCA collections
  • Articles, Books, & More: This will search across everything in our collections
  • PASCAL Catalog: This will search for books from all academic libraries in South Carolina

Accessing Ebooks

To access ebooks in our catalog, you will log in the same way you do the databases, with your full USCA email address and your email password.  If you are unable to log in, log into your Outlook 365, and in the upper right corner, go to your account and reset your password. Once you've done that, you should be able to log into ebooks and databases.

PASCAL Delivers

PASCAL Delivers is a service that allows USC Aiken students, faculty, and staff to borrow books from other South Carolina academic libraries. It is much faster than requesting books through ILL.
