Content Area Literacy

"Content literacy can be defined as the ability to use reading and writing for the acquisition of new content in a given discipline. Such ability includes three principal cognitive components: general literacy skills, content-specific literacy skills (such as map reading in the social studies,) and prior knowledge of content."

(McKenna & Robinson 1990)

About the Assignment

Where? Submit the draft and final on Blackboard.

Why? Designed to get you thinking, problem solving, synthesizing, discussing, and building a repertoire of skills to serve you as an expert in the classroom and to support your students. Through the research, you will be able to incorporate research-supported literacy practices into your instruction.

How? APA 7th edition format: Times New Roman, size 12 font, double spaced
