Search the Online Catalog to FIND BOOKS. Try the Keyword search option. An example of a keyword search might be:
Japan? and religion
OR try a Subject search on the country.
From the list of subjects that appear, look for subheadings like “Civilization” or “description and travel.”
Search DATABASES to FIND ARTICLES in JOURNALS.
To find the list of journals covered, look in the “Info Center”
For “scholarly journals” look for a “Y” under the PEER REVIEWED JOURNAL in the record.
Full-text coverage begins in 1994 (but not necessarily for every journal).

Many items are available in Adobe Acrobat (pdf) format. This format provides a complete facsimile of the article as it originally appeared in the printed journal.
Academic Search Premier (Collegiate DISCUS)
- Full text for nearly 4,700 publications, including full text for more than 3,600 peer-reviewed journals.
- PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals, and searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,000 titles.
SIRS Knowledge Source
Click on “Database Features,” the white button near the top of the page. Look under the purple “SIRS Government Reporter” for “Country Profiles.”

- Look for country information in the reference section based on the Library of Congress call numbers.

Internet Resources
- Country Studies (from the Library of Congress) Presents a description and analysis of the historical setting and the social, economic, political, and national securities for countries throughout the world. Note: Does not include EVERY nation. Some are somewhat out of date. We have many of the print equivalents in the library.
